TRANSPARENCY
As part of our commitment to COMPLETE transparency, we share the story behind every piece of Considered Jewellery.

Design
Our Signature collection was designed in the UK. The intricate pattern used on the pieces was taken from the Considered logo. It consists of four back to back letter C's each representing the core pillars of our business.

Sterling Silver
The silver in your piece comes from Cookson Precious Metals in the UK, and Legor, a sustainability award winning refinery in Switzerland. These companies melt down scrap metal to produce our reclaimed sterling silver.

Casting & Assembly
The team at Just Casting are part of our Created in the UK certified supply chain. They make our designs in wax, before casting your Signature piece in silver. Smaller elements, such as chains and earring backs, are added at the workbench. Our earring hooks were handmade to ensure they came from the same reclaimed silver as the rest of our pieces.

Fairmined Gold
Our Fairmined gold comes from a small-scale mine in Columbia called Iquira. Fairmined certification means the miners have developed their mining business safely and with respect for the environment. Due to their location in the famous Colombian coffee zone, the miners alternate between mining and growing coffee.

Gold Vermeil
Fair Alloy are a gold manufacturer in Columbia. As passionate supporters of artisanal miners, Fair Alloy buy their Fairmined certified metal from the Iquira mine and transform it into gold plating solution. The team at D&M in the UK use this to add a luxurious coating of gold vermeil to your piece.

Quality
Our Signature range was assayed and had the hallmark applied by the Birmingham Assay Office, before being quality checked by the Considered team in London and Yorkshire. It was then lovingly packed in a reusable, organic cotton pouch before arriving with you.

Many jewellery brands are unaware of the origins of their materials or the artisans involved in their creation. We believe this should never be the case.
We proudly showcase the provenance of every material we use, introducing you to the master craftsmen who meticulously craft each piece. You can wear Considered Jewellery with absolute confidence, knowing its journey and the skilled hands that brought it to life.

Design
Your limited-edition pearl pendant was designed in the UK. To celebrate its organic shape, the pendant casing was hand carved from wax around an individual pearl.

Sterling Silver
The silver in your pendant comes from a company in the UK called Betts. The team at Betts use an innovative refining process to extract silver from medical x-ray film collected from the NHS, giving discarded materials a new life.

Tahitian Baroque Pearls
Our pearls come from the Kamoka Pearl Farm. South Sea pearls are cultivated from oysters grown in the nutrient-rich lagoon of Ahe Atoll, a small atoll located approximately 300 miles northeast of Tahiti in French Polynesia. For decades, this family-owned farm has nurtured a harmonious relationship with the marine environment, ensuring that every pearl harvested is a result of sustainable farming methods.

Casting
Based in London, The Responsible Casting company transformed the wax pendant case into solid sliver using the lost-wax casting method.

Gold Vermeil
Gary and his team at Andra, based in the heart of Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter, were responsible for adding a lustrous layer of reclaimed gold plating to the piece before setting the pearls in their new home.

Quality
Your pearl pendant had a sterling silver hallmark applied by the Birmingham Assay Office, and was stamped with a unique number signifying that it is one of just 20 pieces produced.

Organic Cotton Jewellery Pouches
Your piece arrives tucked inside a hand-made, GOTS organic cotton jewellery pouch. The fabric is made in India and printed in the UK using ECOCERT certified inks. This means they have been independently certified as made in an environmentally friendly manner. The pouches are stitched by a lovely lady called Terri, a talented seamstress based near our studio in Yorkshire. The zips and ties used on the pouches are made from nylon and polyester microfibre. These are not our ideal choice and we’re working to improve them.

Cotton and Coffee Envelopes
Instead of a box each pouch is placed in a gift envelope, which tells you about how the jewellery is made. They are made from upcycled cotton waste mixed with coffee grounds. The materials give a beautiful colour and texture, whilst also creating something beautiful out of something that has been discarded. Check out the Little Green Paper Shop in Cheshire for lots of gorgeous alternatives to normal paper.

Tissue Paper
Our pieces arrive with you wrapped in acid-free tissue paper made from a mix of recycled and new FSC certified materials, and printed with soy based inks. Along with the tissue, the tiny orange stickers used to seal the wrapping can be put in your compost bin and will break down naturally within around 180 days.

Mailing boxes
Our outer mailer boxes, which come from Westpack, are made from FSC certified materials and, along with our packing tape, can be recycled or composted.

Design
Our collection in collaboration with Ammo was designed in the UK, with input from the talented craftspeople at the Ammo workshop in Cambodia. Ammo is a social enterprise that provides training and employment opportunities to women and young people in their community.

Recycled Brass
Your piece is made in brass. Ammo recycles blank brass bullet cartridges, which have been fired in practice. The process is inspired by the Cambodian tradition of melting found bullets to make jewellery following the country's civil war.

Hand-making
Each piece of jewellery is hand cut, hammered and polished by Ammo's small team of makers based at their workshop in Siem Reap, Cambodia.

Finishing and Gold Plating
Gary and his team at Andra, based in the heart of Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter, were responsible for finishing the pieces and adding a lustrous layer of reclaimed gold plating.

Quality
Your piece was quality checked at the Considered HQ before being carefully placed in an organic cotton pouch and compostable packaging.
