In a collaboration rooted in tradition, craftsmanship, and purpose, we’ve partnered with Ammo: a Cambodian social enterprise committed to empowering local communities and giving new life to discarded materials by transforming bullets into jewellery.
a STORY OF SOCIAL PURPOSE
Founded in 2013 by British jeweller Madeline Green, Ammo began as a community-driven initiative in Siem Reap, Cambodia, equipping local women and youths with jewellery-making skills and fair wages.
Inspired by Cambodia’s long-standing tradition of crafting jewellery from melted bullet casings—remnants of the country’s civil war— the team produce jewellery collections and run workshops focusing on repurposing waste and preserving cultural heritage.
For us its a great symbol of transformation for Cambodia and for its incredible people – creating Beauty from Destruction!
At Considered, we deeply admire Madeline's vision in building Ammo and mentoring a team of skilled artisans. Among them is Ammo's senior designer, Chantrea Thorn, who collaborated with Considered co-founder, Bea, to craft our unique collection. Together, they designed pieces featuring a traditional Cambodian hammered technique.
jewellery with meaning
Our jewellery journey begins in Cambodia, where each piece is meticulously brought to life by talented artisan Philit Thorn. Discarded bullet cartridges, now fired during practice rather than war, are melted down and reworked by hand into our jewellery designs.
The pieces are then transported to Birmingham’s historic Jewellery Quarter, where they are assembled into their final form. To complete the transformation, a coating of recycled gold plating is applied—enhancing their finish while remaining true to our commitment to repurposing materials.
Beyond their beauty, these pieces carry a profound message. This collection embodies what is possible when businesses, no matter their size or location, unite behind shared values.
